Loop Bioreactor

High Performance Bioreactor (HPB) have gained increasing attention in the field of biological waste water treatment over the past years.

Combining microbial processes and process engineering improves the efficiency and quality of existing treatment technologies.

HPB is using one or more jet loop reactors with biomass separation by ultrafiltration or low pressure dissolved flotation systems.

Features

  • Volumetric load: 8 to 15 kg COD/(m³ day)
  • Hydraulic retention time: 30 to 90 minutes
  • Mixed liquor suspended solid (MLSS): 10 and 20 g/l
  • Utilization of oxygen: 80 to 90 %
  • Degradation of BOD: more than 98 %
  • Excess sludge production:
0,032 bis 0,05 kg dry weight per kg COD

The system is characterized by high oxygen transport rate hence footprint requirement is merely 0,07 to 0,2 m² per Population Equivalent.

10 remarkable reasons for HPB

  • Cost effective
  • Effluent suitable for irrigation
  • Low excess sludge production
  • Space saving
  • Energy saving
  • Odors-free
  • Load fluctuations capability
  • Supply variations capability
  • Expansion capability
  • Short erection time
